Meriden CofE Primary...

... (a DBE school) received the Cross of Nails at 2.45pm on Wednesday 14th March from Bournebrook CofE Primary School during a service that was led by Year 5 pupils. This was followed by three days of art projects in school based around the theme of peace, love and faith. Some of these include willow sculptures that will be placed in the school Peace Garden.

Highlights of the journey so far...

We are now three months into our Diocesan Centenary with the Schools' Pilgrimage of the Cross of Nails and many DBE and MAT staff have held the joyous privilege of being able to join schools and academies for special services and events.

So far the Cross of Nails has been transported by open top vintage car, on the front of a tractor, in a taxi, on foot etc! It has witnessed doves being released, generated a design for a 'Peace Trail' around a school, inspired many activities based around the theme of Peace and Reconciliation and much more.

Stretton CofE Academy ICONS Celebration

Stretton became an International Cross of Nails School (ICONS) at a special celebratory service at Coventry Cathedral on Tuesday 20th March 2018. It was attended by all the children, staff and many of the parents and guests in a special act of worship hosted by the schools team and led by Dean John Witcombe.

The service was crafted by the school in partnership with their local vicar Rev Pam Howell and reflected their usual worship style including a wide range of music, drama, cardboard testimonials and a final opportunity for spontaneous prayer from the children. It was a very special time of celebration in recognition of Stretton's achievement and ongoing commitment to be a part of the ICONS network.
