Our Approach to school Improvement

The School Improvement Model
The Diocese of Coventry Multi Academy Trust is committed to providing support from a member of the dedicated, skilled and experienced education team to work with governors and senior leaders at every academy regardless of their Ofsted grading. As such every academy within the Trust is provided with 12 days school improvement support for primary schools and 24 days support for secondary schools. The member of the education team will work with governors and senior leaders at the school to develop a bespoke school development package and facilitate the sharing of good practice and school to school support both within the Trust and with external partners and schools outside the Trust.

The Trust will commission a coherent package for school improvement which:

  • Is tailored to each individual school and is in response to ‘rich’ contextual understanding of the challenges faced
  • Brings about rapid improvement where needed and/or builds capacity
  • Is recognised as good practice
  • Draws upon research and is supported by an evidence base
  • Takes account of effective adult learning and motivational theories
  • Is provided by quality assured professionals who respect and build capacity and confidence
  • Maximises the use of school to school support
  • Articulates high expectations of teachers and learners

The Quality Assured Team of Education Professionals is led by our Head of Education and comprises of:

  • Experienced headteachers including NLE’s, LLE’s and SLE’s
  • Outstanding school based practitioners
  • Consultants bringing specific areas of expertise
  • Direct School to School Support
