A Royal Tea at St Bartholomew's

One of the academy's topics this year was ‘Time for Tea’, and one of the key texts was ‘The King Pants’ by Nicholas Allen.

During the break from school the children were given a little bit of homework to do with their parents. They were asked to write an invitation to the King and Queen inviting them both to tea at St Bartholomew’s Belgrade Nursery; they could write a letter or draw a little picture for them. The parents got really involved and some fabulous letters and pictures were provided.

They were so good that the academy decided to send them off to Buckingham Palace to see if the King and Queen would accept the invitation. They didn’t think for one minute they would receive a reply, but they did! The children were so surprised when I the letter was read to them from the palace. It was such a lovely example of a collaborative approach with school, children and parents.

The Nursery is just fantastic and it's all because of moments like these!
