  • Year 6 Pupils Shine in Interfaith Poetry Project

Year 6 pupils at All Saints Bedworth CofE Academy took part in a powerful and memorable poetry project at All Saints Church, marking the 85th anniversary of the Blitz and celebrating Interfaith Week under the theme “Community – Together We Serve.”

Across two inspiring afternoons, pupils worked alongside students from local secondary schools to write and perform poetry focused on unity, resilience and service. As the only primary-aged participants, they represented All Saints Bedworth with great confidence and maturity—standing shoulder to shoulder with older students and sharing their voices with creativity and pride.

The project gave pupils the opportunity to:

    • Reflect on the importance of community in times of challenge
    • Celebrate diversity and deepen their understanding of different faiths
    • Express themselves through thoughtful writing and performance

Their poems were first performed to a large audience at All Saints Church—an especially significant occasion as this was the first time the event had been hosted in Bedworth. It marked an important step in strengthening links across Warwickshire and Coventry, demonstrating the impact of collaboration between schools, faith communities and civic partners.

We are delighted that a number of the pupils’ peace poems, created as part of the Coventry Peace Festival (1–15 November 2025), have now been published. This ensures their reflections on peace, community and unity will be shared widely and remembered.  This project truly reflected our vision of learning and growing together to be the best that we can be. We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ talent, courage and thoughtfulness in contributing so meaningfully to such an important community event.
